In even brighter and stronger colors the forest glow after it has rained. Now the sun comes through, illuminating the water drops on the leaves. It smells fresh and the scent of trees fills the air. Walking through this jungle, hearing the different animal sounds, it reminds of the Amazonian rainforest.
a king’s forest
This forest area near Cologne changed its owner quite often. Since humans declared this piece of land as theirs, it belonged to kings, emperors, archbishops and counts. Now it is owned by the state North Rhine-Westphalia.
A treasure was found, but what was it?
While searching for dangerous leftovers of the Second World War with metal detectors a treasure was found buried in the sand. 3600 bronze Roman coins as well as some tools had been lying here covered by earth for over 1600 years.
